SECOND OF TRAIN-HIT TIGER CUBS DIES - 16th April 2013

PNS | New Delhi
Two female tiger cubs were hit by a speeding train near Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve on Sunday. While one died on the spot, the other was seriously injured and taken into care. However, this cub has now died too.

The incident took place on Chandrapur Gondiya railway route which pass through the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur district.

The National Board For Wildlife (NBWL) pointed out that during the September meeting of NBWL, chaired by the PM, the need to implement mitigation measures to address deaths due to linear projects such as railway lines, roads, highways, transmission lines and irrigation canals through crucial wildlife corridors, was stressed. However, nothing has happened so far.
